Weigh Wax: |
- Weigh the amount of Enchanted Lites Soy Votive candle wax needed for your project.
- Consult our
Molds for Votive Candles page to see how much wax each of our
votive molds will hold.
|
|
Melt Wax: |
- Heat the candle wax to between
190°F and 200°F
using a
double-boiler system.
- Use a
candle thermometer to check temperature.
- Do not heat wax over 200°F, Vegetable waxes are subject to
thermal degradation and yellowing.
- Note: Melt point = 137°F
Flashpoint = 500°F
|
|
Add Scent: |
- When temperature reaches 160°F-175°F add up to 10% fragrance
by melted wax weight not to exceed 1 1/2 ounce of scent to 1
pound of wax.
|
|
Add Dye: |
- Add dye until desired color is
achieved.
- You
can test color by dropping a few drops of wax onto a piece of white
paper.
|
|
Stir
well: |
- Stir thoroughly to
incorporate scent and dye.
|
|
Pour Wax: |
- Pour
Wax that is between 165° F-170° F into clean molds,
the lower the temperature the less it will shrink.
|
|
Cooling: |
- Allow to cool as slowly
as possible.
- Do not
place in a water bath or refrigerator to accelerate the cooling process.
|
|
Never melt wax on a gas
stove, it has a Flash Point & is Flammable. Never leave wax
unattended. |
